Saccharomyces boulardii is a type of probiotic yeast that provides comprehensive support for gut health, not only in humans but also in animals, particularly in aquaculture.
With its unique cell structure, S. boulardii helps strengthen the intestinal barrier, restore the balance of the microbiome when antibiotics are used, and promote the growth of beneficial bacteria while inhibiting harmful pathogens.
Many studies have shown that Saccharomyces boulardii supports gut health by enhancing beneficial bacteria, inhibiting pathogens, boosting immune responses, and improving the survival rates of aquatic species such as Artemia against Vibrio, with survival rates of up to 90%, compared to the control group of under 40%. Thanks to these outstanding properties, S. boulardii is increasingly being applied as an effective biological solution in fish, shrimp, and crab farming, contributing to improved animal health, increased growth performance, and reduced disease risks in farming environments.
